AP Govt announces free electricity for Ganesh pandals during festival

Amaravati: Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Andhra Pradesh are set to get a boost this year, with the state government announcing free electricity for Ganesh mantaps (pandals) across the state.

Human Resource Development and Information Technology Minister Nara Lokesh announced the decision on Wednesday, saying the initiative was aimed at supporting communities organising Ganeshotsava celebrations and adding to the festive spirit.

Lokesh, in a post on X, said free electricity would be provided to all Ganesh mantaps across Andhra Pradesh during the festival.

He said the move was a major government initiative to support communities celebrating Ganeshotsava across the state.

The power supply arrangement will also facilitate religious and cultural programmes organised at the mantaps during the festivities.

Ganeshotsava celebrations in Andhra Pradesh will be held from September 14 to September 25.

The government’s decision is expected to provide relief to organisers who require electricity for lighting and other arrangements at the mantaps during the celebrations.

Lokesh also extended his greetings to people on the occasion and expressed hope that Lord Ganesha would bless every family with prosperity, happiness and success.
